[VIDEO] Telling stories to win with Peter Guber – Tell to win book

by seantm

On Wednesday March 30th Lewis Howes and I had the honor of hosting Peter Guber on a webinar to discuss the topic of story telling. Peter just came out with a new book called Tell to win – Connect, Persuade and Triumph with the Hidden Power of Story.

This webinar was one of top 3 favorites of all time. It’s not everyday you get the opportunity to talk to someone as accomplished as Peter.
To give you an idea of peters success – he is the Chairman and CEO of Mandalay Entertainment. Films he personally produced or executive produced, including Rain Man, Batman, The Color Purple, Midnight Express, Gorillas in the Mist: and many more. He is a minority owner of the Golden State Warriors, has been the CEO of Columbia Pictures, etc. The list goes on and on – if you care to see more check out Peter Guber’s Wikipedia.

The book is fascinating and really explains the power of story to win (for lack of a better word :) . After reading the book and talking with Peter On the webinar I had a personal revelation that confirmed the true power of story. For now watch this replay and let me know in the comments if you want to hear about my personal experience with story telling to sell.

Enjoy.

STORY TELLING - something im trying to master! Peter makes it sound so easy! great webinar...

Hi, LOVED this webinar. Thanks for putting it up. I created I mindmap for this webinar - you can check it out here: http://www.powerofstories.com/storytelling-interview-with-peter-gruber Good supplement for visuals and people who want to get a quick overview :-)

Hey guys, had bookmarked this and just now watch it - really great interview, he is electric! Thanks for sharing this... and thanks for just sharing this without any product sell ;) Take care glory@successfulpages.com

what's important to realize is that stories (good/horrible/stupid) do capture attention-- and some longer than others. (you can figure out that part) . Presentation is everything when it comes to story-telling and creating a voice or style that garners attention and with luck captivates the listener or reader. While those talking twins aren't doing much, their story is palpable, interesting & cute. Think video but turn it into words.. and use descriptive language as well as images and video into something that will grab someone's attention

Great interview! "Facts tell. Stories sell." Absolutely. Peter shared that the elements of story are conflict, challenge, and resolution. But I find it more helpful to think of story elements as: 1. Character - someone the audience shares a deep connection with who wants something 2. Conflict - the inciting incident that plunges the character forward 3. Challenge - the thing(s) that the character must learn or overcome to succeed 4. Transformation - the change that occurs in the character because of the journey Loved Peter's NY accent and no nonsense directness. Thanks!

This makes a lot of sense to me. As an Internet Marketer, I have written a lot of articles to bring traffic to my websites. The article with my highest CTR to date was a made up story about golf.

I have looked a lot into the art of storytelling, but Peter makes it seem much easier. It was a great webinar. Do tell your story, though!
